Earlier this month, Elon Musk quietly incorporated “United States of America Inc” at the address of his family office in Texas, news first reported by Sarah Emerson in Forbes and confirmed by a search of Texas corporate records. While Musk’s precise plans for “United States of America Inc” aren’t yet known, it doesn’t take much of a squint to see the outlines of his vision.

In his blog Unqualified Reservations, which Curtis Yarvin wrote from 2007 to 2014, and on his later Substack page called Gray Mirror, which he started in 2020, he argues that American democracy is a failed experiment that should be replaced by an accountable monarchy, similar to the governance structure of corporations. Yarvin has been described as a "neo-reactionary" and "neo-monarchist" who "sees liberalism as creating a Matrix-like totalitarian system, and who wants to replace American democracy with a sort of techno-monarchy".

Republican vice-presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) attended two fundraisers in New York City on Tuesday, the latter led by Jewish supporters.

Jonathan Burkan, senior vice president at Morgan Stanley, Palantir adviser Jacob Helberg and investor Keith Rabois co-hosted a Trump Jewish Leadership Coalition lunchtime fundraiser.

Helberg is openly gay. He married American investor Keith Rabois in a 2018 ceremony officiated by Sam Altman. [Rabois is considered a member of the PayPal Mafia. Rabois has been involved in investments in YouTube, Palantir Technologies, Lyft, Airbnb, Eventbrite, wish.com, Relcy and theorg.com.]

Marc Andreessen married Laura Arrillaga in 2006. She is the founder of the Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund and daughter of Silicon Valley real estate billionaire John Arrillaga. They have one son together.

In 2009, Andreessen issued a $25,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in the 1987 unsolved murder of Barbara Blackstone, a teacher from New Lisbon High School in Wisconsin, where he had attended. At this time the case remains unsolved.

In 2021, he and his wife bought a property in Malibu for $177 million from Serge and Florence Azria. This was the highest price paid for a California property at that time. As of February 2023, his net-worth is estimated at $1.7 billion by Forbes.

In 2022, Andreessen advocated against the construction of 131 multifamily housing units in their affluent Atherton, California town. In a letter, Andreessen and his wife wrote that they opposed permitting more than one house on a single acre of land. Andreessen's comments sparked criticisms of hypocrisy, as he had previously argued for increased housing supply, in particular in California.

The Jew was coded as the “rootless cosmopolitan,” the disloyal outsider who controlled not things-in-themselves—not land, not rivers, not farms, not even, as John Ganz notes in his recent excellent essay on reactionary modernism, machinery—but instead only something magical and disembodied: capital itself. The Jew was in this schema the ultimate modern man, whose trade was not in the earth, or indeed in anything material, but rather in the realm of speculation: in money, in ideals.

Peter Thiel—described as a friend of Yarvin, who invested in Yarvin’s startup in 2013 and hosted Yarvin at an election night party in 2016—reportedly became disillusioned with the Trump White House for not taking Yarvin-like ideas far enough. “Thiel fantasized that Trump’s election would somehow force a national reckoning,” according to Barton Gellman, who published a wide-ranging interview with Thiel in 2023. “He believed somebody needed to tear things down—slash regulations, crush the administrative state—before the country could rebuild.”

VP nominee J.D. Vance, a former employee in one of Thiel’s firms, has discussed similar ideas, citing Yarvin.  In a 2021 podcast appearance, Vance was prompted to give his advice for Trump in a possible second administration.  Name-dropping Yarvin, Vance advised: “fire every single mid-level bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state, and replace them with our people.” As Gaby Del Valle at The Verge pointed out, the advice Vance offered is Yarvin’s proposal “Retire All Government Employees” (RAGE)—intended to “‘reboot’ the government under an all-powerful executive.”

Since taking office in December 2023, Argentine libertarian Javier Milei has done a speedrun of Yarvin’s and Thiel’s ideas, taking his country through economic shock therapy and privatization in his first year — including cutting pensions for workers, slashing public services (he campaigned with a chainsaw), and opening the country’s resources to foreign corporations. “Everything that can be in the hands of the private sector,” Milei told a local radio station, “will be in the hands of the private sector.” Earlier this year, Thiel visited Milei in Argentina, with the new president’s agenda underway. After the meeting, Thiel reportedly remarked

“Milei’s ideas are as relevant globally as they are for Argentina.”

Musk has championed Milei from the start. Just a month ago, he remarked “President [Milei] is doing an incredible job restoring Argentina to greatness!”—and, with eerie similarity to Thiel’s comments, said this to Milei:

Most honestly, perhaps, Argentina ambassador to the US Gerardo Werthei observed that Musk “expressed wanting to help Argentina, and had a very good view of everything we have, mainly lithium.”

Musk has offered similar praise for El Salvador president Nayib Bukele—the leader who adopted Bitcoin as legal tender in El Salvador, and introduced a “citizenship by investment” program, offering residency visas to foreign investors who put $1 million into the economy through Bitcoin (“available to the first one thousand investors”). The law even offers direct citizenship to foreigners who make Bitcoin donations to the government of undisclosed amounts.

Following a meeting between Musk and Bukele at Tesla’s headquarters in Austin, Musk tweeted:

“Just had an excellent conversation with [President Bukele]. We talked a lot about the nature of reality, future of humanity and how technology like AI and robotics will affect the world. El Salvador has an amazing leader.” 

In a video recap that Bukele posted to X, Musk tells Bukele the Tesla site is “three times the size of the Pentagon.”

In The Dark Enlightenment, Land undertakes his own thought experiment of how to transform the government into a corporation owned by shareholders. The first step to do that, he writes, requires: 

that the entire social landscape of political bribery (‘lobbying’) is exactly mapped, and the administrative, legislative, judicial, media, and academic privileges accessed by such bribes are converted into fungible shares. 

At that point, the people who hold true political power can be identified.

If anyone were in position to see that “the entire social landscape of political [lobbying] is exactly mapped, and the administrative, legislative, judicial, media, and academic privileges accessed by such bribes are converted into fungible shares,” it would be person in charge of “a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government.”

Perhaps the shares would be in “United States of America Inc.”

Dozens of people were killed in Beit Lahiya on Saturday as Israeli warplanes razed entire residential blocks just days after the UN warned that tens of thousands of Palestinians are “in grave danger” in northern Gaza.

Reality for Palestinians throughout Gaza, where more than 43,000 people have been killed since last October, with thousands more dead and uncounted under the rubble, is becoming more brutal by the day.

“Supplies essential for people’s survival and humanitarian assistance are blocked at every turn,” a senior UN official told the Security Council this week.

Joyce Msuya, the acting UN relief chief, added on Wednesday that the Security Council and all UN member states “must exert all their influence” to ensure the respect of international humanitarian law.

“The atrocities in Gaza must end, but this cannot happen through words; it must happen through action – urgent, unequivocal action,” she added.

Three prominent Palestinian human rights groups – Al-Haq, Al Mezan and the Palestinian Center for Human Rights – said this week that civilians in northern Gaza are “are being punished for continuing to refuse to follow Israel’s unlawful forcible displacement orders.”

Palestinians warned that Israel was obliterating Jabaliya camp, and a communications blackout in the area prevented people from knowing the fates of their loved ones as the military reportedly blew up entire residential blocks in Beit Lahiya.

The internet and communication blackout due to the Israeli occupation’s siege on northern Gaza has prevented the broadcast of the horrific scenes from the Beit Lahia massacre. What is being shown so far is only a very small glimpse of the full extent of the catastrophe.

Eid Sabbah, the director of nursing at Kamal Adwan hospital in Beit Lahiya, said that four or five residential blocks were razed to the ground in Israeli airstrikes.

The hospital had received around 70 fatalities and dozens of injured people, while more victims remained trapped under the rubble, Sabbah said.

“We ask God Almighty to have mercy on our nation’s children and to lift this cloud and burden from us and our nation’s children,” he added.

“And to lift the siege on Kamal Adwan hospital and all the hospitals, for life to return to normal, and for the entire world … to speak up before it’s too late, before our nation is exterminated.”

Al-Awda and Indonesian Hospital – the only other hospitals that have remained functional in northernmost Gaza – were directly hit in Israeli attacks on Friday.

“In the past two weeks, Israeli forces increased their pressure on these hospitals to be evacuated, but patients had nowhere to go,” Muhannad Hadi, the UN humanitarian coordinator in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, said on Saturday.
